Originally the museum is found by a abbot (Pueng Rojno) by gathering all old things of the temple and nearby. The old name is Wat Bot Museum.

Then the abbot transferred all things to Fine Arts Department and subsequently changed to Inburi National Museum (related to the name of District of which the old things were found)
