Pong Duad Pa Pae (Highest Hot Spring), Chiangmai
 

Located in Mae Taeng District, 40 kms off Chiangmai. 35 kms from the Highway Route No 1095: Mae Malai-Pai and turn right for 6.5 kms. It is the highest hot spring of Thailand. Unlike Mok Fa Waterfall which is a part of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, it is a part of Huay Nam Dang National Park. A ticket for the entrance fee costs 200 Baht each.

A mysterious geyser in the forest.  This powerful phenomenon spurts up from under the ground at a temperature of 99 C. Its natural properties are good for the skin's complexion.

The most favorite activities of the tourist are rafting, elephant riding, bath and local-style spa. Walk further and get closer, listen to the sound of hot spring gushing from below the earth, with the height of about 5 meters. For those who are fascinated with the atmosphere at this spot are able to pitch tents. Restrooms are provided. However, food needs to be prepared on your own. However, accommodation will be ready soon. We would recommend you add this place into your traveling schedule.

Pong Duad Hot Spring is the Geyser type which has high temperature and high pressure and spouting into soil almost all the time. From parking-lot, there is shady pathway to Pong Duan Hot Spring 500 meters and there is safety area to visit Pong Duad Hot Spring.

Sometimes, hot spring will have 2 meters height and have rather strongly our with eight meters height of steam 200 meters not far away, there is also mineral bathe for tourists. Tourists should have at least half day at there, but if you have much time, you may make a camping or have natural route learn which has both half day (2 hours) and two nights overstayed.

Travelling: Using 37 kilometers of Chiang Mai – Fang route to Mae Malai Market, Mae Taeng District, and then turn left to highway no. 1095 Mae Malai-Pai, and 42 kilometers turning right, there has a clear singing board of Pong Duad Hot Spring and then 6.5 kilometers turning right.

Papae Hotspring is a section of Huai Nam Dang National Park. Therefore, there is entrance fee: 400 Bht each.

Bamboo rafting is the interest activities here.
Elephant riding and visiting Karen Villages are also gaining popularity for foreign tourists.
